The Government's Motorcycling Strategy was published in February 2005, with the aim of facilitating motorcycling as a choice of travel within a safe and sustainable transport framework. It had a strong focus on safety including provision on the highway, including road design and maintenance; encouraging safer bike design; promoting correct helmet fitting; and improving rider training. This inquiry looks at the progress in implementing the strategy. In addition it also considers changes to motorcycle licensing arrangements and action that might be taken to reduce the risk posed by mini-motos and go-peds.Action ( iii )a€”A campaign led by the motorcycle industry, retailers and rider user groups to encourage riders to keep their ... on the highway, with local highway authorities and Highways Agency; and keep under review need for further guidance in the light of experience and research. ... The Manual for Streets is also in preparation and promotes the guidance under its section on Motorcycle Parking.
